오는 28일 한국마사회 렛츠런파크 서울에서 제11경주로 1등급 경주마들의 1600m 경주가 열린다.
레이팅 95이하의 1등급 경주마들이 총 상금 1억1000만원을 두고 대결을 펼친다. 경주마 연령에 출전 제한이 없고, 국산마와 외산마 모두 출전이 가능하다.
연승률 100%의 천하무적 ‘라온더포인트’와 24조 마방의 기대주 ‘리월마’의 활약이 기대되는 가운데 주목할 만한 4마리를 소개한다.

‘라온더스퍼트’ 등 경마팬들에게 무한신뢰를 주는 라온목장의 경주마다. 명성이 무색하지 않게 지난해 2월 와이어투와이어 우승으로 화려하게 데뷔한 ‘라온더포인트’는 현재까지 총 7전 6승의 높은 승률과 100%의 연승률을 기록하며 독보적인 승리 행보를 이어가고 있다. 연이은 우승에 자신감을 얻어서인지 2등급에도 불구, 이번 1등급 경주에 점핑출전 의사를 밝히며 출사표를 던졌다.

서홍수 조교사가 주목하는 24조 마방의 올해 기대주 중 하나다. 기대주답게 우수한 성적표가 눈에 띈다. 데뷔 후 줄곧 1, 2위만을 하며 무시무시한 기세를 보였던 ‘리월마’는 2등급 승격 후 출전한 2번의 경주에서 연이어 4위를 했다. 이렇게 기세가 잠시 주춤하나 했으나, 곧 페이스를 찾아 우승을 하더니 지난해 11~12월에는 주행거리를 200m 늘려 1600m에 도전해 2위를 차지했다. 이후 1등급으로 승격해 이번 경주가 1등급 데뷔전이 될 예정이다.

2021년 데뷔 후 총 18번의 경주에 출전해 2번을 제외하고 모두 순위상금을 획득할 정도로 안정적인 성적을 자랑한다. 부마는 ‘카우보이칼’. 지난해 1월 ‘세계일보배(L)’ 우승마 ‘와우와우’와 12월 ‘과천시장배(L)’ 우승마 ‘걸작원’과 부마가 같다. 이 세 마리 모두 추입에 강한 모습을 보인다. ‘글로벌보배’는 지난 9월 ‘MJC(마카오) 트로피(특)’ 경주에서도 경주 초반 7~8위에서 머무르다가 결승선 직선주로부터 추입을 시작해 결국 결승선을 가장 먼저 통과했다.

출전마 중 레이팅이 가장 높다. 줄곧 일반경주에만 출전하다 지난해 4분기부터 ‘JRA(일본) 트로피(특)’, ‘그랑프리(G1)’ 같은 특별·대상경주에도 도전하고 있다. 10월 출전한 ‘서울경제신문배’는 1등급 승급 이후 첫 우승으로 ‘마이티뉴’에게 더 의미 있는 경주가 됐다. 그 후 생애 첫 대상경주로 ‘그랑프리(G1)’에 도전해 8위를 했다. 대한민국 최고의 경주마들이 대거 참가하는 대상경주라는 점과 2300m 첫 도전이라는 점을 감안하면 선방한 것으로 보인다.
