경륜 등급조정 2주차…강급자들의 엇갈린 '희비'

상반기 등급조정이 이뤄진 지 2주가 지났다. 강급자들의 활약이 관심사다. 16일 국민체육진흥공단에 따르면 우수, 선발급 통틀어 12명의 선수들이 출전해 승률 54%, 연대율 68%, 삼연대율 80%를 기록하고 있다. 이 중 지난 7일 광명 우수급에서 우승을 한 이승철(20기), 14일 창원 우수급에서 우승을 한 배민구(12기), 선발급 결승에서 고배를 마셨으나 금, 토 경주에서 연승한 이승현(13기), 엄지용(20기)이 선전을 하고 있다. 반면 기대 이하의 성적을 보이는 선수들도 있어 강급자들의 ‘희비’가 엇갈리고 있다.

먼저 우수급 강급자들을 살펴보면 이승철(20기)은 강급 후 첫 날 예선에서 신인 강민성(28기)을 상대로 제압하며 기존 강자의 매운 맛을 보여줬다. 둘째 날 선행 200M 랩타임 11초 38과 마지막 날 결승에서 젖히기 200M 랩타임 11초 35를 기록하며 준특선급 전력임을 입증했다.

데뷔 초 2006년 이후 18년 동안 줄곧 특선급에서 활약하다가 강급된 원조 ‘부산갈매기’ 배민구(12기)도 제 몫을 하고 있다. 강급 후 첫 경주였던 12일 부산에서 신인 원준오(28기)의 선행 패기를 노련미의 추입으로 첫 승 신고했다. 13일에는 몸을 풀 듯 두 번째 승을 쌓고 이은 14일 결승에서도 추입으로 우승하며 그동안 왜, 특선급 붙박이 선수였는지를 입증했다.

이승철(20기)과 배민구(12기)는 특별승급까지는 다시 먼 길을 달려야 하지만 본인이 강축으로 나서는 경주에서는 실수 없이 팬들의 기대에 부응할 것으로 보인다. 반면 신동현(23기)은 13일 창원 첫 날 예선 선행 2착하며 와일드카드로 결승 진출했으나 다음날 신인 원준오(28기)에게 패하며 4착을 해 아쉬움을 남겼다. 김우현(12기)도 13일 광명 첫 날 예선에서 우수급 강자 이성록(27기)에게 패하며 7착으로 결승진출에 실패했다.

우수급에 이어 선발급 강급자들을 살펴보면 이승현(13기), 엄지용(20기)은 연 이틀 1착했으나 결승에서 고배를 마시며 각각 3착, 6착으로 결승선을 통과했다. 반면 최병길(7기)은 첫 날 1착, 다음 날 팀 대결에서는 3착, 결승에서 신인들과 대결에서 2착을 하며 노련미를 발휘했다.

김종현(15기)은 첫 날 신인 김태울(28기)에게 패하며 2착, 다음날 1착을 했고 결승에서 신인들에게 밀려 아쉽게 4착을 했다. 한편 박찬수(26기)는 첫 날 신인 임대성(28기)에게 패하며 3착하며 결승 진출까지 실패했지만 다음 날과 마지막 날 1착하며 부진을 만회했다.

경륜위너스 박정우 예상부장은 “선발, 우수급은 신인 선수들의 데뷔전과 맞물려 팀 간 충돌이 잦기 때문에 강급자들도 상대진영의 선전에 따라 완패를 당하는 경우가 자주 발생하고 있다”면서 “편성에 상관없이 무조건 믿으면 되는 강자, 편성에 따라 기복이 큰 선수, 편성에 상관없이 들쭉날쭉한 선수를 골라내는 안목을 키울 필요가 있다”고 조언했다.
